The enduring beauty of nature

While Lessinia stone has always been our flagship product, we also quarry and sell two other exclusive marbles: Rosso di Trento and Verdello di Trento, which we extract from our “Pila” quarry in the province of Trent – currently the only active quarry for these varieties.

The decision to work primarily with just three materials is in response to the desire to work only materials extracted from our own quarries, without having to involve any middlemen. This way, we have total control over every stage of the process and can give our best work to your projects, dedicating to them all the care and craftsmanship that excellence demands.

— Dealers and marble workers

Quintarelli Pietre e Marmi supplies GANG-SAW-CUT SLABS in all thicknesses and SIZED TO MEASURE to dealers and marble workers. We can also provide slabs with the following finishes: micro-bush-hammered, bush-hammered, machine tooled, polished and brushed. Our office staff are always available to provide you with a detailed, customised estimate.

— Lessinia Stone

This special stone is also known as ‘Prun’ stone after the village where it was historically quarried, where the story began. Once upon a time, the stone was extracted from “tunnel quarries” which extended for hundreds of metres into the heart of the mountain. Nowadays, the quarries are “open caste” and the first stage is cleaning away the surface soil – known as “lifting off the cap” – to get to the quarry floor; then we can get to work extracting layers of various thicknesses. The rock is calcareous-marnous and is composed of around 70 strata, which vary in size from just a few centimetres to 30-40cm. Colours can range from white to bright pink. Lessinia stone has always formed part of the landscape of these hills and the city of Verona – everyone knows the pink paving stones in Via Mazzini, just off Piazza Bra in the heart of the city, which come from our very own workshops. Thanks to its many layers, each of which has different characteristics, Lessinia stone can be adapted to any number of uses, from paving slabs and interior and exterior surface coverings, to hearths, staircases, steps and home furnishings.

— Rosso di Trento

Part of the Veronese Ammonitic Red family of stones, the Rosso di Trento extracted from our “Pila” quarry on the hills above the city of Trent is a compact, red-coloured stone that has been used in the city and its hinterland since Roman times. We directly extract the material ourselves in blocks, then we transport it to our workshops and transform it. This stone can be easily recognised on the Renaissance facades, the doorways, the windows and the balconies of the city of Trent, and even in medieval buildings such as Castel Vecchio. Rosso di Trento can be used for all indoor and outdoor environments and is especially suitable for use as paving stones, stairs and surface coverings or in urban design projects thanks to its being a natural anti-freeze.

— Verdello di Trento

Part of the same family as Rosso di Trento, the Verdello is a compact material with very unusual colouring: a white background with delicate nuances ranging from light yellow to pale green or even to greyish shades. When polished, it displays green and ash-grey shades, sometimes even purplish-grey. Verdello di Trento was used in the construction of many historical buildings, doorways and colonnades in Trent, such as the face of Palazzo Tabarelli or the facade of the Santa Maria del Suffragio church. Used for exteriors and as a building material thanks to its excellent antifreeze properties, it has also been used many times to pave the stairs and entrance halls of historic buildings. Verdello di Trento is a marble that can be used for all interior and exterior environments and is particularly suited for use as flooring, surface coverings, stairs and various furnishings.

— Other marbles

We also work other marbles, such as Biancone d’Asiago, Bronzetto Veronese, Yellow Istrian and Trani. Availability of these materials depends on current stock, or they can be obtained on request.

Biancone d’Asiago
This marble is also known by the name ‘Pearl White’ and is extracted from the Asiago plateau which gives it its name. Its extremely fine, compact texture and its classy cream-white colouring make it perfect for use in interior design, in particular as a stylish touch in bathrooms, kitchens, inlays and decorative pieces.

Yellow Istrian
A speckled marble with a distinct pale colour ranging from yellow to hazelnut. Yellow Istrian stone is perfect when you want to create warm, elegant effects with old-world charm and the ability to brighten up any space. A compact stone, its low porosity makes it highly resistant to cold temperatures. This makes it perfect for outdoor use, such as paving and exterior surface coverings. Also ideal for artistic carvings.

Bronzetto di Verona
This is a highly compact marble extracted from the hills of Valpolicella. Its base colour is a warm yellow, with brownish nuances added by the dense network of thin veins criss-crossing its surface (hence the name “bronzish”). Used to great effect in surface coverings, floorings and interior furnishings (stairs, wash basins, kitchen countertops and shower bases; even as design pieces), this stone is available in many different forms and formats.

Trani Stone
A calcareous rock extracted in the Apulia region in the south of Italy. This material has colours fluctuating between beige, ivory and rosy pink (depending on the variety) with a dense network of mostly thin, sinuous veining giving it its distinct look. Suitable for interior and exterior use, either as a construction material or as a design element.
